Basketball Queensland (BQ), in partnership with our Associations and Clubs, host a number of coaching accreditation courses and events throughout the year. BQ currently facilitate the Community, Club & Association accreditation and are working with BA to reinstate further accreditation pathways.
ABOUT BQ, in conjunction with Queensland School Sport stages the Champion Basketball School of Queensland (CBSQ) tournaments each year. With the Open event originating in 1974 the event attracts a great deal of interest from secondary schools across the state each year with over 120 boys and girls teams competing across several open-age divisions.
BQ Associations run a number of introductory programs designed to make learning to play basketball fun, safe and easy for boys and girls. Junior programs such as Aussie Hoops and Mini Ball aim to introduce children to basketball in a structured program, with the best possible learning and playing experience to develop a positive introduction to the sport of basketball.
The State Championships provides a pathway for players to develop their basketball career with the potential to be identified for entry into the BQ High Performance Program, and also is a major development activity for Queensland junior referees. The BQ State Championships are proudly supported by Hoop 2 Hoop .
Each year Basketball Queensland (BQ) offers up to 46 State Team volunteer coaching positions (plus a number of Emerging Team coaching positions) to help coaches across the State further their development. All our Assistant and Development coaches are selected from the State Coach Aspire Program.
